Stablecoin — the cryptocurrency that doesn't want to swing
Unlike Bitcoin, a stablecoin tries to always be worth one dollar. How and why.

A stablecoin is a cryptocurrency pegged to a stable value, usually the dollar: 1 stablecoin = 1 dollar. The idea is to combine crypto's speed with the stability of a normal currency.
Stable... if there's backing
A stablecoin is truly stable only if the issuer actually holds real reserves (dollars) for each token. It's the same old question of backing — exactly like the banknotes of 1661. Nothing new under the sun.
